 Fleeing Through Fire

While leaving the city to escape the fire, the videos show people driving towards and through the fire to find safety. In some instance, the route was blocked by the fire and people had to turn around to find another way out of town.

Handheld series

The point of view when using cameras on phones is determined by the person making the recording. These types of cameras allow for panning and expanding the view. The re-presentation of the experience in paintings provides a second hand witness perspective of a view that is wider than the camera lens.

Dash cam series

The point of view from dash cam videos is fixed in relation to the direction the vehicle is travelling in. The use of both front and rear dash cams allowed for simultaneous recording of two different views of the fire as the vehicle moved through space and time.
